Integrated Cancer Awareness and Screening Campaign Promotes Early Detection for Healthier Communities

In celebration of Women’s Month, the EKCC Project, in collaboration with THET, organized an Integrated Cancer Awareness and Screening Campaign on March 27, 2026, at the EKCC One-Stop Cancer Care Center located at Churchill Health Center. Guided by the theme, “Collaboration is Power to Improve Both Women’s and Men’s Health,” the campaign promoted awareness and early detection of breast, cervical, and prostate cancers while also providing screening services for major non-communicable diseases, including hypertension and diabetes. The event highlighted the importance of integrated approaches to disease prevention and demonstrated how partnerships can expand access to life-saving health services for both women and men. Speakers from Addis Ababa University, Tikur Anbessa Specialized Hospital, THET, EKCC project and Churchill Health Center emphasized that early detection remains one of the most effective strategies for reducing the burden of cancer and improving treatment outcomes. A powerful testimony from members of the Nigat Breast Cancer Survivors Support Group further reinforced the campaign’s message that awareness, timely screening, and early intervention save lives. Through education, screening, and community engagement, the initiative reaffirmed the commitment of EKCC and its partners to advancing cancer prevention and improving population health in Ethiopia.
